American Institute in Taiwan

    The American Institute in Taiwan is proud to present Picturing America, an exhibition of 40 graphics of artworks that traces the history and art legacy of the United States.  This exhibition is traveling to eight University Art Centers throughout Taiwan from September 2011 to July 2012. In May, the exhibition will take its seventh stop at Feng Chia University in Taichung.

Picturing America showcases the United States' rich artistic heritage, and offers insights into the character, ideals, and aspirations of America. The exhibit's 40 framed reproductions of significant American works of art encompass a wide range of artistic media, including painting, fine crafts, sculpture, photography and architecture.  The exhibit uses art as a catalyst for the study of America - the cultural, political, and historical threads woven over several centuries into the fabric of the United States.

The opening event will take place on Friday, May 11 at 10 a.m., followed by a guided tour and a lecture given by American Cultural Center Director Mr. Ryan Roberts. As an added benefit, the American Institute in Taiwan is pleased to offer teaching materials that enable educators to incorporate the images in Picturing America into their classroom instruction.  For more information about these resources, please email to AIT Cultural Center at: Taipei@mail.ait.org.tw
